I am developing...not a bias, I guess, but a theory about the difference between dj's who started playing vinyl and those who have only - or primarily - lived in a digital world. This mix by Atlanta's DJ Inc. is a great example of how dj's used to develop, and how the scene as a whole used to view mixes, before everyone became slaves to a specific micro-genre.
Inc. kicks off with some classic downtempo, moves into some chill dnb, swings through housey-territory, heads back to the dnb and then rolls out super chill through the end. It's a 'journey' as we used to say. This style of cross-genre playing, where the vibe is more important than trainspotting and taking the listener from one place to another, that's what got me into electronic music. Check it.
